The Demon lives...

Yes indeed! Other than a few little annoyances to work out, the Chevy lives....and lives mighty well. Lillie is sooo very happy with the truck and spent the better part of a week every night redoing the interior..Looks good Hon!

What evil lurks?....

I love my car.....lol

Toyotageek.com

No Smurfs were harmed....

Sorry for taking so long on an update...been real busy here lately trying to get everything together on all the projects.

Well, after about a month of delays, the engine block for the 280zx finally came home cleaned and with new cam bearings.  Ryan went about honing the cylinders, and clearancing the cam boss for the double roller timing chain.  After that was done it was given a final cleaning and I taped it off and painted it blue...

I promise more timely updates as the real work is ready to proceed on the build.  The engine should go together here in the next week or so, and I'm going to be getting the Z ready for the install.  I'm gonna be stripping the front clip off of her to provide better access to the engine compartment, and to prevent damage to the somewhat thin sheetmetal of the body...more to come!

Project Datsun 280zx update..

Well, the 350 I'm building for the Z got dropped off at the machine shop today.  It's getting cleaned, cam bearings installed, line bored, and new freeze plugs put in.  The crank is also getting turned because of some spun bearings..ouch!  Anyway, hopefully this will take care of the block and crank and it'll be ready to reassemble in the next week or two.  I've already got the aluminum heads, air-gap intake and headers sitting on a shelf waiting for installation.  Got to pick up a cam and lifters soon..I'm going with a Comp Cams Xtreme Energy 284, so it should put out around 450-500 hp when all is said and done.  It'll be an interesting ride to say the least!  I'm going to start stripping out the interior in the car here pretty soon to get it ready for the swap.  Also picked up some nice stock high back seats...been looking for a pair for quite awhile now..mucho more comfortable than the low-backs that are in it right now.

I'm debating on whether to install a stereo in the car or not.  The reason being that the engine is going to be so loud, you probably won't be able to hear it going down the road anyway...however, this car is probably going to be at alot of shows and such and a radio might be nice to listen to while lounging about at the show.  That and it might make the car a better overall package so to speak.  Any thoughts??

How far it's come

Just looking back thru some old pics on the old 'puter...I'm kind of surprised at how far my Z has come since I first got it...

And here's how it sit's now...

Still along way to go...

Japanese Nostalgic Car...

Since my job entails me sitting on a computer all day, I generally have alot of time on my hands.  This idle condition leads me to browse alot of forums, usually of the automotive persuassion.  One of the sites that I frequent is http://www.japonesenostaliccar.com/.  Alot of informative and interesting people on there..and alot of unique cars you just don't see anymore.  Anyway, one of the guys that run the site, Ben, has an old Cressida wagon that is his project car.  I figured since I was bored I'd go ahead and render his car...we'll see what he thinks.

Some more artsy fartsy stuff...

Did this one for Ryan as sort of a concept for his truck...

Another Datsun...surprise, surprise

Project updates

I've got a couple project cars going on right now which I plan on updating regularly on here.  Lil's 74 Chevy C10 pickup, my 81 Datsun 280ZX, and my 92 Toyota Celica GT.  I have a different goal in mind for each one so they each entail a varying degree of attention at times.

The Chevy, aka Project: Demon, has a Vortec 5.3 LM7 installed in it and is already running for the most part.  It's having an electrical issue with the alternator wiring, but hopefully that will be figured out this coming Thursday when Ryan and Matt come up.

The Z, Project Hope, is getting a V8 Chevy...I know, how original eh??  Right now it's sitting forlorn in my yard with no drivetrain to speak of while the engine is down at Ryan's garage waiting for the machine shop elves to do their magic on it.  It's gonna be a screamer..hoping for about 450 h.p., that way I can kill myself at an even faster pace.

The Celica, Project Sidetrack, is basically the daily driver.  It needs some work, but with under 400 invested, I think it'll do for now.  I did pick up some wheels for it for cheap from Mark this past weekend.  They'll look pretty good painted black..

So...those are the projects.  I'm sure they are not to be the last...just ask Ryan or Matt.  Speaking of Ryan and Matt, they each have their own projects which I'm sure will make it onto these pages eventually....so stay tuned.

Evil parts car???

Well..last night I decided I needed to get the wheels off the parts Z out back for Mark when I got home from work. Me being me, I decided this would best be accomplished by using a 30 year old scissor jack and a 3/8 drive ratchet. Of course..not all went to plan (surprise, surprise). The car has been sitting in my back 40 for the last two years in the mud with two flat tires, so as you may have surmised, it was a little sunk...evidently into an ancient indian burial ground...who evidently really liked the front wheels.  After two hours of cussing, sweating, bleeding, and casting evil looks towards a small barking dog...the ground finally released it's hold on the accursed wheels. So...Saturday I will deliver the wheels..and a brake caliper.  Mark, I hope you're happy with your stuff...just don't mind the blood all over the one wheel.  Below is a picture of said evil parts Z....

Datsun 240Z

Here's my most recent Z that I've done..  I have a real soft spot for these cars.

To Boldly Go...

Well...here goes nothing!  First post on what I hope becomes a regular stopping point for you on your daily travels on the net.  Guess I'll give you  a little history on myself and how I came to where I am today.

First things first...my name is Ed, sometimes Eddie depending on what point in my life you became aquainted with me.  I went by Eddie at first, and as the years went by it slowly devolved into Ed.  Of course, Eddie was originally Edward, but then who wants to be called on by that name...sounds to proper and snooty if you ask me..."Oh Edward!  Could you please bring the Rolls around?" ...nah, couldn't live with Edward....So, Ed it will be from now on I suppose.  I'm originally from Springfield Missouri, but life (and a wife) has taken me north to around the Lake of the Ozarks area.  I still frequent Springfield from time to time, mostly on the weekends to hang out with friends and such...such being working on cars mostly...lol.  I went to school in and around the area eventually graduating from Rogersville.  I was always drawing as a kid and thru high-school and that seemed to be where my future was headed...but alas, Ed is a fickle creature, and my interests shifted to cars during my senior year and my plans eventually headed in a more "automotive" direction.  Since that time, I've had numerous jobs in equally numerous and varied fields...but I'll get into that later.  Needless to say, my art has always been at the back of my mind.  Here recently I actually started drawing again, and was surprised that I picked it back up quite easily. So here I am...creating this blog to chronicle my journey thru the art "experience" and life in general.

Hope you come back for more...It might actually get interesting?  lol

btw...thanks for prodding me into this Mark
